The Triangle Region Welcomes New Bach to Rock Music School
Bach to Rock (B2R), America’s music school for students of all ages, announced today that its first North Carolina location is now open in Apex. To celebrate Bach to Rock’s grand opening, the school will host an open house on Saturday, November 12 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at 958 US-64, Apex, N.C., 27523. The community is invited to tour the school, enjoy a free music lesson, learn about individual lessons and group classes, try out free toddler “Mommy and Me” classes, enter into prize drawings and giveaways, check out the recording studio, and meet the teachers.
“With Bach to Rock, students get to play the music they love and they also get to play in groups, so it’s supportive and team-oriented. The enjoyment factor is much higher, the students are inspired by music, and the learning is more meaningful. You won’t see solitary, boring music lessons. Check out our new school in Apex and you can experience the difference,” said President of Bach to Rock, Brian Gross.
Spearheading the Apex school is the local husband and wife team of Tay and Kelly Foster. Their new Bach to Rock school is the first in North Carolina. “We love living and working in Apex and are thrilled to bring such a creative, fun and impactful business to our community,” said Kelly Foster. “The Bach to Rock method encourages students to explore the kinds of music they love, and then play that music with other students in a band and perform in a public space. It’s amazing to see the growth and transformation,” she said.
The couple brings a wealth of experience to the endeavor and is eager to welcome students from across Wake County. “We want our Bach to Rock school to be a place that everyone enjoys, and it becomes a community centerpiece,” said Kelly.
Bach to Rock Apex will offer a variety of programs for students of all ages, including individual lessons, group classes such as Rock Band, early childhood programs for children as young as toddler and preschool age, summer camps and birthday parties. Studies have shown that learning to play music in a group helps students learn teamwork, develop social skills and build self-esteem, among other benefits. The school will also feature Bach to Rock’s new Touch Screen Tablet Technology, which allows teachers to customize lessons; gives parents the ability to view their children’s progress and homework; and provides administrators with the necessary tools to ensure students are receiving a well-balanced music education.
Bach to Rock is expanding at a robust and steady pace. The franchise has repeatedly been named to Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500 and was listed in the Top Ten Trending Categories for 2016. Franchise Times has ranked it as one of the 500 Powerhouse Brands and on its Next 300 Franchise System list.
Bach to Rock is currently seeking qualified candidates to open franchise locations in major metropolitan markets throughout the country. Bach to Rock is an opportunity for entrepreneurs to build a business that is dedicated to helping children and adults learn to play the music they love. While music experience or ability is not necessary, candidates should bring strong business acumen and the ability to build teams to ensure the school’s success.

In a fierce competition at the 2019 Bach to Rock Battle of the Bands, 36 bands went head-to-head at City Winery in New York City on Sunday, June 9.
The groups performed in both the Main Space and The Loft at City Winery and rocked the iconic hotspot.
“The students, who range in age from 7 to 18, and their band coaches worked tirelessly for months to prepare for this tremendous event and I’m beyond proud of all the performers,” said Bach to Rock Port Washington Director Elana Hayden. “While this is a competition, the main point is for the kids to have a great experience, to get to perform in a top New York City venue – and to have fun and feel like a rock star!”
Six seasoned music industry professionals, Carolee Goodgold (Carly Simon), John Miller (Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton), Brandon “Taz” Niederauer (Lady Gaga, Dr. John), Cameron Rasmussen (Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway), Jason Reese (Sal “The Voice” Valentinetti) and Wayne Schuster (Blood, Sweat, and Tears) judged the performances.
Over 150 students performed on stages that have hosted Lou Reed, Suzanne Vega, Joan Osborne, Taj Mahal, Patti Smith, and Buster Poindexter to name a few.
The bands were scored on several criteria including musical ability, technical ability, stage presence, material, creativity, and professionalism. All the competitors study a variety of musical disciplines at Bach to Rock music school, including music theory, instrument instruction, recording arts, performance arts, voice lessons and band coaching.
Featured Student - Indica
This is our student of the month: Indica! She has been playing piano for one year now! When she isn't playing music, she enjoys biking and disc golf. A fun fact about Indica is that her name means "night star princess protected by wolves". Her favorite thing about being a part of Bach to Rock is singing with her band Purple Nightmare, as well as playing piano with her mom who also takes lessons here. Congrats Indica!
